I stated in another post how I made a viv from a cheap cabinet I bought from a car boot. Here it is mid-conversion, It is actually finnished now but I thought I could show you how easy it is to make one from cheap items you can find at jumble sales etc. Each viv has 2 light attachments on the right hand side for both night and day spots providing a warm basking area on that side and a slightly cooler one on the other. Both are operated by manual swithes on the side of the viv. More photo's when I can be bothered to pic up the camera!!!

Sounds fantastic! Make sure you put up completed pics, maybe with some animals inside. It looks great, didn't think something like a conversion would actually look so good, and the drawers/cupboards under the vivs would be great for storage.

This first pic is a hatch in the top viv that can be used to open up to create a two tier Viv The next is the switches for the vivs, this allows me to change from night to day spots And the viv as it is finnished (not decored though) the top has my Pueblan in it in a small tank at the mo and the bottom is empty. The differance in light colour is due to the flash on the camera but the bottom is red and the top is day. Both have guards on. Finally the tank on top has my Corn in it!!! Thanks for looking

About £30 in all for various bits. I'm chuffed because to buy one would cost at least £200

a very impressive setup I especially like the two tier idea. May have to look into that idea myself for my beardies perhaps ;D

I wasn't going to bother with the two tier but I wasn't sure if I was going to get a group of Garters or a milk snake, I was thinking about putting the corn in it and let him have more room. But I now have a milk snake and that will allow me to get another one at a later date. The hatch is there now to aid in the ease of breeding!!!
Just keep an eye out at car boots etc. Thinking back My Gran had one of these cabinets with all her sherry glasses in it, I wonder what happened to that!?

I have to say i am most impressed with what you have done there.... well done, building my own viv's has given me respect for what you have done there, i have never built anything before i started this except a few model airplanes as a kid lolol, i am finding it a slow process but a satisfiying one, i have made a few mistakes but thats ok cos i won't make them again lol, maybe the next time i'll do what you did and look out for a nice cabinet to start with and not build them from scratch like i have, i really don't know what made me do it from scratch maybe it was cos the wood was so cheap lol, but yet again nice job you have done there..... I would like to build from scratch as you can make it exactly what shape you want so good on you mate. I was just lazy and bought a cabinette. A couple of holes here and a bit of wire there... Easy! But to build one from scratch fair play to you
