Went into my local 'pet' shop to look at some goldfish the other day and in their they had a beautiful juvi Royal Python, I looked at it, pondered over it then I saw the price... £125!!! I almost chocked!!! I thought to myself that Python must either be a special morph (it wasn't) or had had to save the Queen (It hadn't done that either)!
That poor snake will be destined to stay in that shop for a long time as down the road the 'reptile' shop has a few on sale for £50.
Bloody price hike!!!

Seems to be the standard price in pet shop's, the pet centre were i buy my live foods from for my cham sell's royals for the same ammount £125, the thing is people do buy them, i fell in love with one even got to hold it and i thought the same nobody will buy it, 2 days later it was gone much to my dismay

my local pet shop got broken into the other week, lost loads of stock inc 100s of turtles, stole pretty much all the stock! now they have a million ball pythons in there and not much else. Its the 2 nd time its happened to them, and they only been open a few months. they got some lovely red tailes boas, so lovely, get too big for me tho.

A lot of pet shops are overpriced, in comparison to private breeders. However, if you bare in mind overheads + staff wages etc, the prices aren't that bad. I have dropped a lot of prices in my shop recently (shirley aquatics), but i'll never be able to drop them as low as private breeders as teh shop would go bankrupt.

some shops are dearer than others...all about shopping about for best animals...ive paid some good prices from petshops..some cheaper than private

Jen where are you from then hun I know the shop you speak of, they were torts that went "missing" along with bull snakes, and some of those "red tail boa's" that actually aren't true red tails lol
Pet shop prices are stupid sometimes like the 125 pound royal, if it was a breeding adult that was a good price but they are usually cf or wc babies for that price in shops!! makes me mad it does!!

It was a cf juvi Royal at £125, however I have just found a place selling cf07 Royals for £35 and they are in good nick. I'm battling with my head and my heart over it as I want a Royal but can't really afford to take one on at the mo... Bugger!!!
