Depends on what type of lizard. Would you prefer a terrestrial gecko (ground dwelling) or Arboreal (climbing)?

Cresties grow to a total length of apprx 8 inches (Snout to tail not snout to vent). They are fairly easy to keep but a lot of people have different views on their maintenence. Breeding is just as simple as it is with leopard geckos. All in all a good species to keep. I'll will PM you a care sheet for you to have a read through so you know what you're up against before hand .

The smallest lizard species I know of are.... Pictus geckos (Paroedura pictus) Mourning Geckos (Lepidodactylus lugubris) Sand geckos (Stenodactylus sp.) Bearded leaf chameleon (Rhampholeon kerstenii) But these are very fragile species so be sure to read up on them first.

so crested geckos dont need a heat mat?? I like the easy to keep lizards and snakes, i have 2 small kids so time is quite limited, and there is no point getting a species thats hard to keep, if i dont have the time, soooo looks like crested geckos is my next project! Havn't even finished my 1st project yet lol.

some people keep them on heatmats but unless the temp in your house is freezing there's no need. and yes so easy to keep, very hardy lil things they are. will have to get all mine up in the gallery! or look on my myspace pics lol

all reps need calcium supplements. in cresties - if you open their mouths you will find a small white spot or bump on either side, these are the calcium sacs and are used to store extra calcium, which is used in the production of bone and eggshell. by looking at the sac you can gauge your vit d3 and calcium supplementation (just stroke the side of the mouth to get them to let you see) as for the heatmat, cresties preferred temp is in the low 70's, keep it below 85 as anything above can stress them and long term exposure is lethal. cresties can tolerate low temps and at night are comfortable in anything down to 50 as long as they can warm up the next day.
