After the joy of getting our new baby Royal today, sadly I found my beloved Kingsnake girl, Sammy dead in her viv.
I don't know how old Sammy was as she was fully grown when we got her. Of all my snakes she was the one with such a wonderful, quirky nature. She was the one who would come to me when I opened the viv door.
Last year, a few months after we got her she became egg bound even though we hadn't bred her. We needed medical intervention to save her. I read somewhere on the internet that often when that happens, the snake might only live a year after for some reason. When we got Sammy the shop (no longer in existence) didn't know her age. They thought she was maybe 4 or 5. I think she may have been older.
I'm gutted that this has happened and I can only hope Sammy was happy with us in her own way.
