I've never been convinced he's purely a common boa but not sure exactly what type of BCI he is. Definitely not run-of-the-mill. Even his shape is different to our other two Boas. He's got a quite noticeable oblong kind of shape where our other two are much more rounded. He also darkens down considerably, especially after he's just eaten. I think he's quite unusual. When I first saw him, it was his unusual colouring and markings that attracted us to him, particularly his tail. He's also a very friendly little chap.

WOW!! I have never seen a snake eat before because I get a bit squeamish of snakes with really thick bodies lol but he's really going for it!! He;s adorable

I've found Boas to be very docile. They tend to be gentle giants. Our other two, Zig and Zag (a pair) are now both well over 5ft long and both are thicker than my arm. I'll get some new pics soon and post them. Have to admit I love watching our snakes eat. I hand feed our Boas and our two Royal Pythons ( not recommended but I find the weight of the rats on the end of a pair of tongs hurts my hand and I know exactly when the snakes are going to strike). Next time we feed them I'll try and get a video of them striking. I did have one but I can't find it anywhere on the PC and can't remember what I called it

That'd be good to see. Just be careful when filming though I used to have a Colombian Rainbow Boa that required hand feeding. For some reason it wouldnt take the food if it was on tongs. Still to this day I dont understand this lol

Glad you've said that Paul as one of my Royals, Byron won't eat off the tongs either. He refuses point blank and seems to give me a look of disdain if I do use the tongs - almost as if to say don't I trust him, daft as that sounds. Some say he's attracted to the heat of my hand but I would have thought he would have struck at my hand instead of the rat, but he goes for the rat every time. It's not the first time either I've forgot I stink of rat and picked him up yet he's never attempted to bite me. I've had him since he was a hatchling and have handled him regularly since the day I got him and I'm sure he does know the difference. I can't do that with our other Royal though.
Still, if that's the way he likes being fed then I'm happy with it so long as he eats ;D
